Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) is a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, operating under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India. Established in 1956, CCL was originally known as the National Coal Development Corporation Limited. It was later renamed and became a Category-I Mini Ratna company in October 2007. CCL is primarily engaged in the mining and production of coal, serving as a significant contributor to India's energy sector. In the fiscal year 2022-23, CCL achieved a record output of 76.09 million tonnes of coal, surpassing its production target of 76 million tonnes. The company also registered a record off-take of 75.03 million tonnes during the same period. The company's mining operations are spread across eight districts in Jharkhand, including Ranchi, Ramgarh, Hazaribag, Bokaro, Chatra, Palamu, and Latehar.
